{club auction brings in $380k}

Every seat was full Saturday night at the 28th annual Boys & Girls Club auction, “Kick Up Yer Spurs For Kids.”A full house of 570 were on hand to bid for a wide range of donated items to raise funds for the club.Bidders could select spas, fishing trips, vacations and sporting goods, along with more personal items like a quarter-carat diamond ring donated by Jordan Jewelers. Office coordinator Janie Bacio gave Kelli Nash of Jefferson a closer look during the live bidding. By the end of the night the event had grossed $380,000.Director Ryan Graves was ecstatic: “We had expected we would be down as much as 20 percent this year because of the way the economy is but we are very pleased with the results. We were only off about 10 percent overall. People were very generous.”The auction proceeds make up about 25 percent of the club’s budget. Graves said they will be used to help with a variety of projects including improving playing fields.
