{just squeezed out on the play of the night}

Right from the opening kickoff, South Albany set the tone.
The Rebels beat visiting Dallas 47-7 Friday with all 47 points coming in the first half to trigger a running clock the remaining 24 minutes of play.
Zac Hunter returned Dallas' game-opening kick 89 yards.
That set up junior tailback Bryce Stutzman for a 5-yard touchdown run, the first of his four touchdowns on the night.
Three of those scores came in the game's first 10 minutes as Stutzman carried the ball 10 times for 159 yards in just two quarters of play.
South Albany managed to find the end zone on its opening three plays from scrimmage.
The Rebels took a 19-0 lead on a 42-yard scoring pass from Josh Heckman to junior tight end Trevor Rediger.
While the quick strikes decided the game early, Rebels coach Tony Matta said that
wasn't his initial gameplan.
"We wanted to be efficient and we did with a big kick return and three offensive plays and three touchdowns," Matta said. "But I had a script of plays I wanted to mix together that I didn't get a chance to because the way (the game) ran. That is because the guys up front did a great job in making some holes and we could get loose in the secondary, too."
Senior offensive lineman Bond Sumey said it doesn't matter how long the drive is, just as long as they find paydirt.
"(Our motto is to) go to the echo of the whistle, go hard, and play hard. We just want to hit people hard and hopefully open up the holes," Sumey said. "When they do open we'll get the big play. If we don't we'll just do it the next one."
While the South offense scored on all six first-half possessions, the defense got involved as Justin Robbins incepted Dragons quarterback Kody Steele in the final minute of the second quarter and ran 82 yards for a touchdown.
Robbins said his fellow defensive cohorts will need to continue to create big plays down the stretch as the Rebels face Crescent Valley, West Albany and Corvallis over the last three weeks of the regular season.
"I think it always starts with the defense," said the South Albany senior. "Defense starts first and then you've got to work the offense down the field. But I think both are coming around pretty good and we are going to be pretty tough from here on out."
Matta says his team just needs to stay the course in order to remain in the Mid-Willamette playoff hunt.
"These next three weeks will be a good test," Matta says. "With tonight's win, we're not worrying about making a statement to Crescent Valley next week. We just take care of ourselves every week and everything else will fall in place where it is suppose to be."

{swine flu and pumpkins}

carved pumpkins sunday night after the pumpkin patch and then it was all down hill from there.

madison got a fever at about five in the morning and started puking. always nice to have company when your kids are puking. calvin had the pleasure of holding her hair back while she sat up and puked all over herself and the blanket on the couch. he was a trooper! i would have lost it if i was a kid.

called the doctor with all of her symptoms and because she had been sick the week before he chalked it up to the dreaded {swine flu....aka H1N1}.

not much we can do except for keep her home for 5 days and keep an eye on her.
this girl cannot catch a break.
days like these it is hard to be a working mom. lucky to work somewhere that understands that.

{pumpkin patch}

took madison and calvin out to grandpa's pumpkin patch this morning.
it was the most beautiful fall day ever!

we picked out about 5 pumpkins {for only $6.....can't beat that at the grocery store} and then went through the corn maze and on the hay ride.

calvin said he hadn't been to the pumpkin patch since he was in kindergarten, so that was kind of fun for both of the kids to share.

yesterday madison had her volleyball tournament all day long. they won the championship against north albany! it was such a great game and madison was the server in the end who got the last two points. way to go madison!

megan and zac came to watch and we all went out to dinner at applebee's afterwards.
it was so much fun.....wish every weekend could be like this. it was pretty dang perfect.

just got home from goodwill. found some great "nerd" costumes for calvin and madison for halloween. madison got the greatest pair of pants ever.

this week i am looking forward to:
  • burrito tuesday.....so, so ready
  • decorating the house for fall
  • lighting my new fall candle
  • using my starbucks card all week {that my boss was nice enough to get me}
  • did i mention, burrito tuesday?
